This is a larva of Lophocampa caryae, the hickory tussock moth. These larvae have been abundant in Southeast Michigan this year. K5 IIs, 300mm f4 plus 50mm extension. I used my on-board flash covered with my white T-shirt for some additional light. LR exposure +.5, CS5 Levels, burn tool to darken branches in BG, Topaz In Focus, Topaz Detail...................Jim

Very nice - excellent DOF choice and perfect plane of focus to get all in sharp focus.
Very fine detail, and nice colour contrasts.

All of the hair shows really well here, Jim, set so nicely against the leaf. Your burning in of the background really lets the leaf and cat. pop.

Great capture, Jim. I like the opposing curve composition here apart from the unusual subject. Do not recall seeing many white cats anytime.
