Sleeping Majesty

He tucks away in a quiet place, far from the masses. He closes eyes to rest his head to the steady sounds of a nearby River. When he stands people watch and when he fights a noble battle his life lay in the balance. But for now he sleeps, in a peaceful corner of the world, his own little place. In a few months time, he will rise a fierce warrior a true testimony of his majesty.

Photo taken just outside Rocky Mountain National Park in Spring of 2013. My trip to RMNP occurred before the flood they had last year. If I am correct, this photo was taken in the same area where the flooding took place. The river referred to above was the same river that flooded the area.

Nikon D300s, nikkor 70-200 mm lens @ 185 mm, f/4.8, ISO 640, 1/320, +.33 EC

Thanks for looking!

Cristina, this is a wonderful image! Your accompanying prose is very fitting as well. I'm guessing some might suggest a little more space on the bottom and left, but I keep coming back to how much I like this exactly as posted. I also personally like the natural green "vignette" the OOF foreground branch creates in the upper right corner. I love his pose and velvet-covered antlers. You certainly have done this majestic young bull justice in your decisions in the field and in processing. Very nice!

I agree with John that you achieved a serenity that makes this successful. The colors seem a touch too warm on my monitor.

Hi Cristina,

I like the calm, relaxed feel to this image - nicely done. For my taste its cropped/framed perhaps a bit tighter than I'd like, but perhaps this was done because of distractions outside what we're seeing? I agree with Lon that the image might be a touch too warm (checked it on 3 displays on this end) and perhaps the overall colour saturation is a bit high?

Cheers...

Brad
