Evening in monsoon season last year in August. We've yet to see these kind of storms this year. One of my favorite things is to take these shots from my patio with a good storm and a good single malt.

Looks like a chalk drawing Gary. The dark band of foliage at the bottom works very well for me against the lighter layers. Excellent processing to show the virgas this well. I like this a lot. No suggestions.

Looking at this, it does look like a chalk drawing, and I to like it very much, it holds a lot of interest and appeal. Beautiful work Gary.

Wish I had this view from my patio  The layers are wonderful for the depth created. The mid FG looks a little washed out, though could be due to it being sunlit  I might try darkening this area a little and add a touch of contrast. Cool image.

This is glorious!! Wonderful light, mood and feel to the image. What a great glow to the image.

What single malt were you sampling at the time? Much, much, much more important than your ISO, f/ stop or shutter speed.

Very cool image, Gary. I love how the B&W really emphasizes the texture/patterns in the rain. A couple minor issues: The upper left edge has what looks like a dust spot, and the slight haloing around the ridge lines may be a processing artifact. Still a very strong image with lots of "energy". Well done!

Very cool texture and mood to this one gary. I have a view of Meiwah, a chinese restaurant, from my apartment. So this definitely beats my view! I agree about some of the haloing on the ridgeline; it's quite pronounced and could be the mist/fog from the rain. Not sure if it detracts from the image but it is noticable.

Gary, I know where your coming from, I just love chocolate malts too.....

What a wonderful look at some crazy weather. This really has the look of a very artistic pencil sketch. A very different look overall......

Hi Gary, Yes, you have a great view from your patio and then a good single malt making it even better! Maybe I can visit..
An impressive amount of layers in this scene and you sure did capture the mood of the heavy rain. I too enjoy the pencil sketch feel this. I used to do a lot of pencil sketches and have also enjoyed that look.

How wonderful that you have this scene available and can just wait for the light and weather to do it's magic. For me at least, I think you could crop just a hair off the top while still leaving some of the clouds in the middle for a stronger composition.

Excellent in every respect Gary! The comp is unique, those layers are wonderful, and it makes a perfect B&W conversion. A well crafted image! :toast:

Wow, watching a storm with a single malt...sounds wonderful! This is really special Gary, with all of the layers and the brightness changes in the layers as well as the rain pouring down. The contrast between the clear foreground and the rainy distance is a neat addition.

This is especially nice, Gary! Everything works so well together here, from the layers to those radiating lines and the light is magical. I am jealous of your view.

I just love the way the lines come together here! (Pretty cruel to post that you're getting shots like this while drinking good whiskey without posting your address... )

IMO I wouldn't change anything about the processing. Wonderful image.

Great title Gary, very nice.
I especially like the layered comp, and look of the monsoon rain with its patterns/textures.
A pleasure to view your work as always! :toast:
