Early Light + repost

I made this image on the north shore of Lake Superior in Minnesota. The sunrise didn't amount to much so I just waited a bit for the early light to hit the shoreline and cliffs. This is where the Gooseberry River flows in to the lake and it is a pretty cool place. Larger version included. Thanks for any thoughts.

I like the warm light and the look of the moving river as it flows into the lake, Nick. If you can burn any more out of the clouds in the URC, I think this could be an improvement. Other than that, I have no suggestions. :wavey:

Nice light Nick and I like the composition and the ripples on the stream. The variety of blue hues is nice against the oranges in the foliage. I like the image. No suggestions.

Thanks Scott and Pat. Maybe I can get a little more out of those clouds Scott. I'll give it a try. Thanks, Nick

Nice warm light, Nick. I agree with working the clouds a bit. You might also consider a crop down from the top to just above the highest point on the ridge. I think that will give more prominence to the good things going on in the cliffs and the ripples in the creek.

Thanks much guys for the great suggestions. Here is a repost with the crop you mentioned Preston and I also tried to bring a little more out of the cloud as Scott mentioned. I also added just a bit of dark vignette and with your suggestions I like it much better!
Thanks for the help guys! Nick

Very nice light and color Nick, and you pulled it all together with the re post, I think darkening the cloud balanced off the composition nicely. Pretty scene and beautifully done.

The repost is a better comp.
Nice light and details, maybe a bit of brightening to the FG?

I enjoy this photograph, 2ed version best, but both are good. I have stood in this spot many times but never had this light, good capture on your part. Thanks for sharing, and bringing back memories.

The colors in the rocks are great, Nick, but my favorite part is the rippled water running in along the bottom. The repost is a fine improvement.

I think you nailed this baby with the repost, Nick. The ripples in the water are very striking and compliment the diagonal strips of land beautifully. Looks like plan B worked out perfectly.

Mark, Pat and Ed. Thanks much guys. Glad the repost worked out. My feeling was that the suggestions were just what it needed. I thought about brightening the foreground just a touch as Dan had mentioned and may still try that as well. Appreciate all the help and thoughts on this. Nick
