Field Milkwort

I had to do some research to figure out the ID of this small prairie wildflower. Apparently, the plant is a field milkwort (Polygala sanguinea) which is fairly common in the sandier areas of mesic prairies. The flowers are about 3/4 of an inch and the plant stood around 6 inches tall. The background are plants of little bluestem grass. Pentax K5 IIs, Sigma 180mm f3.5 (1/25 sec at f8.0, ISO 200) Lightroom exposure, highlights, and shadows adjustment for 8 images; Zerene Stacker (Pmax), CS5 Topaz Detail for sharpening, rubber stamp for artifacts, 10% crop from the top for composition..................Jim

Another excellent wildflower portrait, Jim. Nice work on the stack. Again, I like the texture in the bg, so good job maintain some texture in the bg. No nits. :toast:

Jim - Up to your usual high standards. The top two blooms would have made me assume these were some kind of clovers. Love the stacking and the streaky greens in the background !

Good stacking work. Topaz Detail does a great job of bringing out structure, but doesn't really sharpen, IMO. I use it extensively, but I make a final light sharpen with Smart Sharpen. Worth trying. The photo is well composed, the flowers are lovely and the BG is exquisite. :toast:
