Nice! My brain keeps wanting the rails to leave the frame symmetrically, but my brain isn't always the most reliable.

An engine, and B&W. I am drawn to comment. This type of engine is called a Shay, and instead of having the usual driving rods on the wheels it was actually driven by a worm gear and a shaft. The pistons are all located on the right side, vertically, instead of up front horizontally as you usually see on a steam engine. These engines were designed for torque & improved traction and mostly were used on mountainous railroads built for logging companies to haul cut trees out of the woods. The off kilter unlevelness distracts me without adding anything. I do like the sky. Image seems to have been over sharpened a bit, but in this case that is working for me because it mimics grain.

I agree that the off kilter tracks detract a bit from the composition. The sky is quite nice, as well as the different textures of wood and metal, and your b/w conversion has nice tones. I'm glad Kent had more info about this engine - it's really interesting.

Floyd,
Love the image, and find myself wanting to see more of the context. Did you crop? If so, suggest you crop wider and re-post to see how others react. :toast:
