Here's a detail from a Ponderosa Pine in Yosemite Valley. I liked how the bark was divided into panels.

Nikon D-7100
18-140mm @ 95mm
F-16 @ 1/6s, ISO 100
TK's Masks
Cropped from left and right sides
May 2014

Please see the large version. Thanks!

Also, many thanks for your comments on my previous postings!

I like the pattern and the details Preston. Nice light as well to bring out the golden pinks. No suggestions on my part.

Beautiful abstract Preston. Ponderosa bark is among my favorites, and the textures and detail you captured here really shines.

Very nice abstract comp, they are really beautiful trees.
I think it could be a bit sharper?.....

Beautifully seen - one has no sense of scale for what this is which makes it that much more intriguing

This is super. There's something 3D about this. Very striking.

The panel aspect is good, Preston, but my favorite is the "puzzle" texture that shows so well in the bark between the lines. The subtle warmth of the colors is also great.

This is stunning Preston. The detail really pops off the screen. Like Mark, I like the puzzle-like texture. Lovely how the orange also compliments the dark areas.

You are quickly becoming the king of bark abstracts. I think I like this maybe even better than the burnt ones. Very cool, Preston.

Really nice abstract. Reminds me of the many braided river abstracts I have seen from iceland. I would never have guessed P. pine. Wonderful processing.

Preston, this is stunning. It's truly one of those fine abstracts that can tease toward looking like an aerial shot of some mountainous terrain or deep river valleys of sorts.
With that all said, it works perfectly as an abstract even knowing what it is.....

Pretty shot. I love all the small detail in this. Ponderosa Pines are so much prettier than the pines we have down south. When I visited Lake Tahoe a few years back I was blown away by their size and beauty.
