Cascade Light

Ice, snow and the first rays of sunrise light on Mt Jefferson, Mt Jefferson Wilderness, Oregon.

This is another image from my early season backpacking trip to Jefferson Park several weeks ago. The overnight temp was in the mid 20s that night and the small pool near the lake completely froze over. I'm definitely happy that I had the chance to visit Jefferson Park during early season conditions. All of the snow and ice transforms this area into a completely different landscape.

Really nice image. Love the contrast between the cool tones of the foreground and the warmth of Mt.Jefferson.

I like your comp a lot Scott - just the right amount of ice in the fg. I also like the colors and light. The pinks and blues are really nice together. The only thing I might do is reduce the contrast a touch on the mountains. I think I see a touch of halo on the slope on the left but it could very well be snow or reflection. Regardless, it's a beautiful image and scene exactly as posted. The more I look at it, the more I like it.

I definitely like the color combo here, Scott. Beautiful scene. As Pat pointed out, there appears to be a slight halo on the left side. Not a big deal. Very nice image.

Man, that is some of the cleanest light I've ever seen. Congrats. Beautiful colors, and the frozen pool makes for a very interesting foreground. The slightly wider view of the ice makes for a nice change from the in-your-face frozen water foreground we so often see.

Beautiful scenery! That light is sweet and the color combo blue/pink/orange is highly appealing and effective.

Now this is cool! Love the comp, mood, etc. Very good contrast between warm and cool, and yet they go together so well. The very, ONLY thing I might mention is that I feel the saturation is a bit too much on the sunlit portions of the rocks (overly orange/red). Great capture of some incredible light!

Really pretty...
The ice color in the FG is perfect and nice clarity and light on the Jefferson.
I might darken the sky just a tad.

The cool blues of the ice and the warmth on the peak are a great combo. No bugs at this time at least. Gorgeous location :toast:

Nice scene with great color. I like the warm vs. cool. You might consider bringing down the red/yellow saturation a bit in the sunlit snow. Nice place to watch the sunrise!

I'm finding the mix of hues really pleasing here. Might agree with a more panoramic crop.
