Gerenuk

I always prefer to take my "wildlife" images in the wild, rather than the less "natural" places favoured by some. Looking for and hopefully finding something "new" and hopefully interesting is for me far more satisfying.
Found this one in Meru, Kenya, a largely still run down national park, slowly recovering from the devastation of the 90's

You finally got your Gerenuk. Congratulations!! I like the alert posture. I was a bit surprised by the muscular build of this guy. Assume it is a ram. The Gerenuks I've seen in the zoo and in photos were all a lot more delicate looking. Well captured.

Stunning subject Ken, love the perfect dog with the entire subject nicely in focus while the background trees are just discernible as such. Well done. :toast:

Hey Ken, that's a heck of a way to check off a species. This guy is a stud....Lord Gerenuk, I presume. As was Jerry, I'm amazed how muscular and dominate he looks. Well captured....with a nice bg separation.

The nice treatment of the background lifts this one from the more documentary type capture to a more artistic rendition. I like it. Techs look just right. I like that he and the thorn bush in front of him are all within the crisp focus zone.
