After sunset

Still working on images from a trip with Doug and Momo last September. It was a great afternoon and evening with changing light and constantly changing clouds. This was just after the sun had set. Had to clone Doug. He was at the top of the red butte left of center.

The canyon was in shadow and lacking in color and texture. I tried to bring this back, tilting the color decidedly warmer to contrast more with the sky/clouds.

Your thoughts and recommendations always appreciated.

Nicely done, Tony. I like the warm/cool color and the textures. Looks kinda lonesome.

Lovely, calm and peaceful, I can almost hear the whisper of a lonesome wind.

Tony, I like your presentation and comp. I was at Coal Mine Canyon in May and stayed only half an hour with marginal morning light. After seeing your post, maybe I should try to work on some of my files. Thanks for sharing.

Very nice indeed, really like the rugged look to the terrain along with the natural colors, and your comp works beautifully, like it alot Tony. Well done.

What a great scene, Tony. Really nice comp and color. Could you clone me too? I need to assign one of me to home and work projects while the other me focuses on photography. ;)

The large version is exquisite.
At first glance, I thought a bit too much sky, but the sky is so nice I would hate to take any out.
A lot of nice detail and layers.

Wonderful desolate view Tony. Love the clarity here. One small thing, the pinks in the clouds seem a little bright. I'd darken that just a bit. Other than that, great work as always.

An impressive view into the canyon, Tony. The sky does its job well to complete this image and the colors in the sky and the canyon work very well together.

The pastel colors in the sky nicely compliment the earth tones in the canyon below Tony.

Beautifully done, Tony. I love how you have evened out the shodow in the canyon. If anything perhaps too even, if that's possible. Very nice. :toast:

Gorgeous image, Tony, with loads of wonderful color. A straightforward composition but it works well for me. Nice to see you posting.

Great sky Tony, so I hate to say I might cut the top 15% of the sky for the sake of balance. A little too 50/50 for me with the land and static. Gorgeous sky, you have brought the canyon to life. I like how you can pull an image to its potential with your processing. Very impressive. :toast:

Composition wise my personal taste would be to cut some off the sky. Of course, if leaving the same ratio, that would be cut to the right or left side of the image. I also would decrease exposure a tab bit in the sky to bring out those lovely pink shades. If this was after the sun set, I would have been surprised to see the sky this bright?
It's always a special experience getting outstanding skies, so you really did well capturing this image.

A beautiful combination of hard and soft Tony. Your usual attention to detail is so apparent in this. My only nit (minor) is that I wish the composition wasn't quite so centered.
