Dead in its tracks

Racetrack, Death Valley

To Michael Martin who, on a previous Racetrack posting, commended me for not placing a rock in the foreground. I was weak and could not resist. I apologize.

Three Raw exposures for DOF, hand blended in PS CC, processed in LR5, TK resize/sharpening for web. Canon T3i, 1/160 s, f/9, ISO 200, EFS 10-22 @ 10 mm, CPL

Please view the large image!

Seeking any and all advice and comments. Thanks in advance.

PS I see the halo on the hill-sky boundary. I'm working on it.

How did the tracks appear and what made them?
A cool perspective, It seems like a trick photo though....

One of the coolest perspectives of the Race Track that I have seen. Nice processing.

Dan- Not a trick. The rocks move due the wind (strong and constant while we were there) and occasionally-reduced friction caused by rain or ice on the playa. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sailing_stones.

Great pov and a nice smooth sky to contrast with soil. I like it a lot. No suggestions.

Ronald, I like this very much and even more in the large version! A cool view from the Racetrack and very nicely done. I agree with Pat too about the sky working great with the scene.

Very cool, I would like to raise the camera a little bit to the top so I can see the track leading to the BG.

I agree it's a lovely perspective. I would try and recover some of the highlights in the sky, though?

Very nice shot Ronald with nice tones and colors. An interesting pov also. Nice processing throughout especially the sharpness. Nicely done.

Very nice post work with the blending, Ronald, of a classic Racetrack scene. I might only suggest a slightly higher camera position and maybe a bit more room for those wonderful cracks in the mud.
