Front Yard Gray

Gallery: Weekly ChallengePosted June 20, 201481 views10 comments
Just cleared some grass out yesterday, so when this Gray Fox female stopped by this morning I had a clear shot.
She drank, peed, and then stopped long enough for me to get this full body shot.. The fox pee shots were a first for me BTW:biggrin:
Someday I'll catch him/her with a mouse in its mouth. With a whole lot of luck of course:wink:

How neat to get a clear, full frame capture of this fox! I see Red foxes in our MD yard regularly and last year I knew where in the woods the den was, but couldn't get any clear pictures.

Not quite full frame, full 'body' Mark..

That's as opposed to a frontal, squatting, pee shot
After looking at this again, I see that I may have brought it up a bit too much?
How does it look on your monitor?

Very nice, Howard. I like the expression on it's face, as if to say, "you got me". I sure don't miss having to cut the grass, all we got here is red sand and sage. Fox looks fine on my monitor. :wavey:

Thanx Gary.
It was quite cloudy & early, thought it looked like I went too far. I have to constantly remind myself to sit up straight & not slouch. Angle of view affects the brightness when viewing an LCD as you know. And even though I calibrate my monitor, the overall brightness adjustment is a bit problematic for me..

Howard, you're going to have to make regular treks over to the wildlife gallery if you get many more like this (especially with a mouse in it's mouth). I guess she approved of your landscaping efforts

Image looks fine on my monitor too....

Howard, I hear you on the "activity" to not show list. I've got some bison calf gamboling images from last month that I won't show because they include a direct rear view of mom with her tail up.

I'm surprised that your LCD monitor is so sensitive to angle. That's definitely true with a laptop LCD, but many desktop monitors use a different technology that makes them much less angle sensitive. (You would, obviously, know how yours behaves.)

"I'm surprised that your LCD monitor is so sensitive to angle."
There's a 'slight' difference when viewed head-on, as opposed to slightly above looking down a bit Mark.
I've heard you're supposed to view from slightly above..
Head-on's darker, slightly above a bit lighter.. It's a Samsung 27" SyncMaster P2770HD I picked up 4 or 5 years ago for about $400.00
Time for an upgrade.. past time.
Now if I can just get my youngest son out of the house

Great capture, Howard! The muted grass background makes a good backdrop to show all of the fine details you captured in this fox. Expression looks a bit snarly and scary. . .but maybe it was just licking it's lips after a drink. Now, I'll have to go take a look at your pee shot.
