Night Flwrs Sunflower 2

The second post in my Night Flowers Series.
The first is posted in flora.
I'm doing a series of flower photos in the dark of night. I hold a small led flashlight up to the subject, then shoot. I have found, that the colors of the flowers can appear so much richer than in the daytime. Plus, no pesky noise to take out.

Here is one view of a sunflower in my backyard. Another view, is horizontal and has an added leaf...it's the same flower. They are kind of "funky" compositions. I'd like to know, if either of them work for you.
Thanks

As long as you're doing night shoots with an LED light, why not do more creative lighting? This looks pretty much like what you'd get with a straight-on strobe, which is to say, not very flattering to the subject. Instead, do a little light painting, making some areas brighter and others darker.

A real standout shooting at night, the black BG works well Lucy.
I just commented on a frog in macro using an led light..
I may have to invest in some new equipment
Well done :toast:

Howard, I have a real sophisticated technique  I hold the small (2"xl0") flashlight in my left hand just underneath the camera. And, voila...light! Really, the flash is all you need, but the camera won't focus unless it "sees" something...that's really what the flashlight is for! So, go all out...spend $15 and start taking night photos  .go to the hardware store and buy a small led flashlight..the one with 10 or so tiny bulbs inside.
This technique is, also, great for taking stills of spiders on the the flowers. Locate them with your flashlight..maybe a bigger one than you shoot with. Then, shoot. They don't freak out and run away. They act like "deer in the headlights" and freeze.

This looks good, Lucy. I like how you've kept the three top leaves in the frame and how much negative space that creates. The lighting on the flower is good and I think your flashlight creates a tighter beam that an on-camera flash would. That difference keeps the flower as the main point of interest.

I like the rich coloring of this shot against the dark background. I often use a LED flashlight for some extra lighting but haven't tried it at night. Sounds like something interesting to try! Re your comp--all of the elements are placed nicely in the frame, but for my taste the leaves are a bit too dominant.
