Lily Fountain

Sony A77
Minolta 100mm macro
ISO 200, 1/30 @ f16

I love cruising our garden early in the morning and discovering the day lilies that have opened overnight. I do wish the BG was a bit less chaotic but I thought the light on the bloom carried the day. All comments welcome.>=))>

I'm pretty sure you must have wired a light on the inside of this lily, Bill. It looks like a luminaria. Very nice.

Lovely presentation. The luminous base is wondrous! Had you thought, perhaps, about doing a vertical pano, to include the clipped petals?

Beautiful image, Bill. Liked that yellow glow from with in the flower. Simple & effective composition.

I am going to get on the bandwagon. Beautiful lite. That glow in the flower is what makes the image.

Bill - Cannot wait for Daylilies to bloom here. May be 2 more weeks.

Love the well lit throat which is where I made many of my abstracts  - I also like the fact that Stamens/Stigma are all in excellent focus.

Bill:

Wonderful lighting especially near the base of the bloom. Good to see the stamen and stigma are all sharply focused and there is probably not much you can do about the bg to get the depth that you need. May be selecting post processing blur to the bg?

Spectacular Bill! You picked a very nice bloom and caught the light just right. Wonderful sharpness and color. Great shot!

The very elegant dress of gold and purple catches the eyes that ignore what is happening behinde. A splendid light at dawn that creates also splendid colors. Bill, I too get up very early in the morning for shooting photos. 80% of my images are taken at sunrise or at sunset.
Cheers.
