Canon 5D Mark II, Canon macro 100 f/2.8. 1/200, f4.5. I shot a bunch of these blossoms and kind of liked how these particular two looked together in a Zen sort of way. Comments appreciated.

Lucy: Striking colors and a fine comp. I like your DOF choice and the effect it produces. Would also be curious to see one with more DOF and both flowers sharp. Top notch lighting too. >=))>

This is beautiful, Lucy. I love the comp and your choice of DOF. The black background sets it all off nicely.

Wow. What a great artistic image. At first, I thought the out of focus second flower was disracting. The more I looked at it I feel it gives your image the artistic effect.

Very artistic image. The isolation of the blooms really make the pop. I too would like to see and image with both blooms in focus.

Lucy - I like the echo effect and the lighting. I find Honeysuckles very difficult to shoot.
Two things come to mind here. One is the frame need a 1 pixel white border somewhere. I do not know where the frame really starts. There is one dominant untouched spot in the background right in front of the pink one.

Thank you for the comments. I do prefer the less obvious macro choice of the bgd slightly out of focus. And thanks Ram for the touchup comment. Got it covered. Incidentally, I usually use curves for darkening bgd, but I'm finding with these kinds of shots Levels surpisingly works much better .
