Mana Waterbuck

I really think you can photograph a rock in the forests of Mana Pools and it will look good...just love the setting with the ancient giant trees and bare ground during the dry season!

This was early morning, before the sun peeked over the forest canopy.
I can't wait to return later in the year to this amazing piece of wilderness.

Techs:
Nikon D3s
Nikkor 500mm f4 VR-II
f4.0 | 1/250 SS | ISO-1400

Almost otherworldly. The sharply detailed Waterbuck is a really good counterpoint to the overall OOF background and foreground. I like this as a whole picture, with the OOF bg in tension with the animal.

Another of my favourite subject-small-in-the-frame images! Just look at the size of those termite mounds!

I like the light and the comp, Morkel, perhaps a small crop off the bottom to remove that sliver of out of focus ground.
