Canon 1D-X, 300mm, lying on ground
f11, 1/640, ISO1000

Another photo from St. Paul Island. It's the only place I've been where Thick-billed Murres outnumbered Common Murres.

50% crop, selective sharpening to birds.

C & C, please. Thanks for looking.

Jim,

Never heard of these nor seen them before, amazing that you have got the eyes to stand out so clearly from the black head, plus a great pose, wonderful :toast: :toast:

I like the oof bg in this and the similar poses. Excellent exposure. Very nice! (Thanks for the Alaska info in your email...we're trying to work out a schedule now, and I'll let you know soon if we'll be able to meet up!) Sharon

Good position you captured these birds in. Good that you were able to keep detail in the dark and the light areas of the birds. OFF BG works well IMHO. Thanks for sharing.

Jim,
You never disappoint. Love your subjects. Do you think the whites on the breasts are a little hot? :wavey:

Cool the way their heads look like clones from the details to their positions in space.
