WC #636 -Yosemite Sunset

Was taken on the drive back from Yosemite a few years ago. The sunset was developing really well so I just had to pull over and take a few shots. It was gorgeous but I didn't have too many foreground choices.

Nikon D70 1/6 sec @ f/11 ISO 200

Thanks for taking a look.

Yes, it can be very challenging using what's available when good light happens and you're not in a preplanned location. The sky colors here are great. The tree branches are too busy for my tastes. You don't indicate what lens you used. If it was a zoom, trying different focal lengths and moving a bit might have let you find a cleaner set of branches and let you exclude more of the dark clouds at the top.

Well, it was certainly worth taking Sanjay, even if the foreground wasn't perfect, and you have some nice silhouettes for this wc. The colors are very attractive and the black clouds give a sense of foreboding, along with the silhouetted trees. Placement of the river in this shot is just right; having it a little above the bottom gives the whole scene a sense of depth.

I like this one Sanjay,
A lot of elements that all came together quite nicely.
Well done . . . :toast:

I really like the graduation of color in the sky and water and the fine detail of the branches in silhouette. I think my favorite partis the placement of the clouds so it appears as though they make up the canopy of the tree, nicely composed.
