From Upper Cathedral Valley, Capitol Reef National Park, just before sunrise. Single exposure, double processed, f/8, 32mm, 1/4 sec. Getting more practice in with TK's luminosity masks. C&C much appreciated!

Wonderful image, Jared. Perfect light, composition and color. And a sky to die for. I need to put this area on my itinerary for my next trip.

Really nice take on upper Cathedral, Jarred. The glow on the formations is sweet.I might back off a little on the saturation but that could be my monitor, which is giving me fits lately. You certainly had a productive trip to Capitol Reef. Beautiful work.

Very crisp, clean processing….
You really hit the golden (or pink) hour perfectly and the lighting is terrific.

I enjoy the repeating horizontals with the verticals cutting through them. Very balanced, pleasing and simple composition.

It is a beautiful image, where the colors, the light and shaded areas and the sequence of horizontal lines all conspire to make a perfect scene...

Beautifully composed and really nice colors in this Jared. Really like the sharpness throughout and the greenery in front adds a lot. Great job.

Hi Jared, you picked up the shot I was looking for last Feb! Congrats.. I think this shot is borderline perfect, however if it feels perfect to you then keep as is. The comp and conditions is perfect to my eye. It comes down to processing. I prefer a little warmer WB. What truly gives the WB issue away is the distant mountain on the far left, its pure cyan. You may prefer a cooler tone here and I see the appeal but I may recommend a WB blend? Foreground cool, sky a bit warmer. Just trying to challenge your processing skills..

Thanks, all, for the comments and feedback. Kane, I'm an admirer of your processing style and skills, so I want to understand your vision for the image. I was worried it might already be a little too warm (at 7500 for both sky and terrain), but are you suggesting increased WB for the sky and decreased WB for the monoliths and foreground? I've sent you a message backchannel with a couple other questions, and (if you have the time and interest) you have my permission to take the image and adjust to show me what you had in mind (free to post here or backchannel).

What a beautiful image, Jared! Wonderful light and color in this scene and your comp looks perfect to me. I too would be curious to see how this looks with Kane's suggestion's, but I do love it just as is.

This is truly an excellent composition from this a bit remote area of CRNP. The only change I might entertain is the cyan on the distant mountain top and maybe push the cyan sky a little more toward blue. Just ideas and not any form of nits on this very fine image, Jared.
