The Naval Air Station is an important part of Pensacola, Fl. I was born and raised in Pensacola and lived many summers on Perdido Key, where this shot was taken. Beachgoers often see Navy and Marine jets and helicopters flying overhead.

This is NOT a composite photo. The helo just happened to fly right under the new moon resulting in an amazing shot.

Just a suggestion for the next time you photograph any type of propeller aircraft - try using a slower shutter speed to add some blur to the propellers. Frozen propellers, as you have here from use of a fast shutter speed, result in a very unnatural look. One would never see the propellers as such on an airborne craft (unless the engines stalled, and the craft was falling to the ground).

Interesting shot, how often does that happen?
I think the propellers have cut off half the moon too:biggrin:

Howard, I've taken new moon shots and photographed helicopters, plane and jets....But, I've never gotten the two in one shot before now! I just happened to look up at the right time.
