Sycamore Detail

I haven't posted here in a spell, so it's time. Back in February I decided to purchase a Nikon D-7100, with which I have been very happy so far; not only with the camera and Nikon lenses, but also the image quality.

This a detail of the bark of a Sycamore in my home town.

Nikon D-7100
Nikkor 18-140mm DX @ 140mm
f-11 @ 1/50, ISO 100
March 2014.

Please see the large version. Thanks!

Just a quick note: I still love and use my 4x5!

Your thoughts are always appreciated.

I have always loved the detail and color in Sycamore bark Preston. I love the 3D details in this image. The larger view is a must see.

Remarkable patterns and details, Preston. I really like how you have included those dark cracks in the tree bark, set amongst the beautiful patches of color. The textural quality of the bark really comes across well too. Love everything about this. Glad to read you haven't completely left the dark slide.

I too enjoy sycamore bark for all of its colors and textures. This is a great look with excellent patterns, a fine smattering of color and some cool textures. Your comp. works very well.

Lovely detail Preston. Have fun with the new camera. Its fun to experiment with no nagging worry about the cost of processing. Its a ever present struggle with me, super high quality vs. instant image.

I do recall getting a preview of this awhile back when you first processed it, Preston. For a simple subject it sure makes a wonderful image. As flat as the side of the sycamore would be the detail in the actual rise and fall of the various points of the skin is simply amazing. Excellent detail......

btw; I saw Guy and M.G. for a very short period of time at the ML Gallery in Bishop on Saturday evening. Guy was there for an opening of several of his prints to be on display and for sale. As always the work on display throughout the gallery is excellent.
