Common Camas

The Camas on our prairies peaked about this past Friday with a bout of genuinely hot weather the middle of last week. The bloom is still abundant but will be starting to fade very quickly now. This is an 8 image stack.

5Diii, 300mm f4 + 1.4TC + 31mm ext. tube, all images at f9, no exposure compensation, tripod, live view and remote shutter release. This was taken last Thursday (hottest day of the week) at 6:49 am and the light was already starting to harshen up a bit.

I always appreciate your comments and criticisms.

Thanks for looking,

The stack looks good, Dennis, as does the flower with its beautifully subtle blues. The side lighting also looks good. I like the hints of blooms in the background. The gray background isn't doing this bloom any favors, but I suspect that you don't have much choice. Has me wondering if you could get low enough to get the sky for a background (and how that blue on blue might or might not work).

Good stack. I see one pistil of the topmost full flower where the stem bled through. Well done on the rest. What program did you use?

Interesting side light and I like the few OOF blooms that liven up this grayish BG Dennis :toast:

Gorgeous variation in light and shade vertically through the image, Dennis - the buds somehow stand out against the darker background with the light glancing off them and make a lovely counterpoint to the bright, light blue flowers. Very, very nice !!!

Phil asked what stacking program I used. Just used the Photoshop built-in software for this.

Interesting that people see the background as gray in this one. It's actually a field of Camas, so it's the blue-purple of the blooms on the green of the foliage. I guess that ends up looking pretty gray.

Very nice Dennis. The BG is nice and soft, and I like the details in the blooms. I also like your centered comp. Nicely done.

The background hints of color frame the stalk and flowers nicely Dennis.
