These dogwood blooms in Yosemite looked like "mariposa" to me :). I think this focus on sky instead of the usual Merced river in the background is an interesting perspective

I like it Kartik. We do usually see them against the river, and the blue backdrop is very pretty.

I like this a lot. The backlighting really accentuates the blooms. I also like the complimentary nature of the color. Very nicely done!!

Kartik,

From someone who has been chasing dogwood in Yosemite for any number of years... this is refreshing! I've always looked to the skies, but never found anything as simple and stunning as this. The back lit vibrance is outstanding! The exposure, color and saturation is spot on and those clouds really top this off. Kudos for this capture.

Two very minor suggestions. I looked at this and one of my first thoughts was a 90deg cw rotation to a vertical. Not that this presentation doesn't work, but this sure sets up nicely for a vertical presentation. And the second, very, very, very minor suggestion would be to crop/clone the hint of the leaf/blossom at the very bottom left. I don't mind the backlit green cut off at all (consistent around frame) but the little bit of leaf/blossom is mildly distracting. And that is a very minor suggestion to a very fresh and lovely dogwood image from Yosemite.

Very nice Kartik! This just yells out "Spring" to me. Love the sky and clouds as a background.

Outstanding photograph Kartik. It is a fresh perspective on the dogwoods. I like it very much. I especially love the out of focus clouds.
