December 3, 2013 in Keith Bauer's workshop at Bosque del Apache, Socorro, New Mexico. Snow Goose landing. Not sure what is caught in its mouth.

Nikon D4 Nikkor 600mm 1/2500 f/13 ISO160 White balance sunny

Processed in Lightroom, CS6 and NIK

Good exposure and nice detail. The wing position is unusual which adds some interest. I would say that it has a feather in its mouth. Good job.

Very nice landing pose. Classic Bosque Snow goose pose! The goose looks a bit grey to me and looks like a lot of sharpening has been applied (especially evident around the neck).

I have to believe those camera settings were when we were having trouble with your D4. That might be what the camera reported in the EXIF, but those settings in daylight would produce a frame that is nearly black.

Here's a version with the whites / blacks set using a Threshold adjustment layer to determine the best white and black point.

Great pose, Patrick. I agree with Keith on the gray look. Even his redo looks rather gray to me-I'm not sure what's causing it.

Patrick,
Great landing pose you captured here. Really gotta get there one of these days. Looks like you had fun and got some great stuff while you were there.
I agree with the gray look. The re-post is very nice. You really got that classic pose. Nice job Patrick! Looking forward to this weekend.
