The Painted Bunting is known as North America's most colorful songbird.
So what better representative of springs rebirth?

You are such an expert on attracting birds...please give me some hints/plants, birdseed, etc to attract this wonderful bird. I know Richmond, TX is in it's range. Also, are they here for only certain times of the year?
We have a small pond/stream with fresh water running though that's the biggest draw Lucy.
The warblers are drawn to the sound of the fountain, and can hear it from a quite a distance.
It also helps that we live in the country as well I suppose, and the land has never been 'cleared'. No city noises either.
Yes, the Painted Bunting migrates through Central Texas like many do Lucy.
They're here from April through late spring as I remember..
Here's a little Nashville Warbler from this morning.
Dark & cloudy all day with a bit of rain, so its low light.
Happy Easter
Gorgeous bird, Howard. Light is simply perfect IMO to bring out the color and detail so nicely. Excellent capture.
Dang, I almost missed the beautiful little Warbler. Where as one is so proudly painted the other is so softly colored. What a wonderful natural world we have around us......
Sweet Photo!
I just bought a different kind of feeding station this week. I wish I had a running stream, but I am going to use one of my horse troughs and put in a waterlily and a "bubbler" fountain. I say a "running stream" , as we do have a, usually, dry stream nearby, that runs to the Brazos River down the street. And I would want "flowing" water, as water moccasins, just love still water!!! And, I just HATE them!!!
I have a shallow bird bath, but...geez, it dries out so quickly here! I have to fill it almost every day
We do live in the country, and I am surrounded by lots of pasture land including all my neighbors. It's funny, that my parents always had painted buntings in Pensacola at their feeder. And they were in a town setting
