Buttercup

Western Buttercup. Thought I'd try to see if I could get some texture in a buttercup flower-they've always been very difficult for me to capture properly. I used a field blur to smooth out a buch of oof grass stems in the bg.

5Diii, 180 mm f3.5 macro, f11, 1/320, iso 1600, -1/3 stop compensation, aperture priority. Processed in LR5 & CS6. Cropped to 9.5MP (just a bit off the top and bottom, the rest from the sides of the horizontal original). Taken April 18th at 9:18 am.

Your comments and criticisms are always appreciated.

Thanks for looking,

You've got excellent detail in this flower, Dennis. The water drops are (of course) a nice addition. I like the square crop. The lack of stem and gray background make a interesting artistic statement, but I do find myself wishing for something in the background.

Wonderful background to isolate the flower and I like the water drops. I guess it depends on what you are trying to achieve as this give the impression of a floating flower. For me I also wish for a OOF stem to help anchor the flower but this is an interesting approach.
