Another angle of the Melanistic Green Heron taken in Cuba in December 2013. The photo was edited in Photoshop, no crop.

Pretty cool find. I just want to reach in there and pluck that one feather out though. :toast:

It is neat seeing this morph. The detail shows in the larger version, but I'm still inclined to bump the exposure up half a stop or so. I think that could get it to sing without jeopardizing the detail in that odd white feather. I do like this angle of view over your last post. Second wish would be for a little more room on the left so it isn't quite as tight, though I see your full frame. I'd still like to have a shot of this morph let alone one this nice in my files.

Thank you Rick. I edited the image with LightRoom and then edited the BG with lights and darks, removing the green plant. Cloned more room to the left too.

updated the larger photo

John, I do like the brighter version better. The iridescence in those feathers starts to show much better. :toast:

Very wild looking Green Heron. The one white feather seems out of place, but that is what makes it so interesting as well. Very cool shot John. I do wish it wasn't quite so tight in the frame, but at the same time, the tight frame does show off the unique coloration.

A very nice look at the bird and the errant white feather, John. I find the greenery under the chin a bit distracting, and I'd like a bit more room. the yellow highlights in the eye and beak really look cool in this image. Just saw the repost-much better IMO.
