Drake's Beach Rainbow

I was so disappointed after driving in the dark before dawn for about an hour and finally getting to the beach at Pt.Reyes, only to find it raining. I didn't have a plastic bag or anything to keep my camera dry so I turned around, ready to go back to the car and was stunned by this gorgeous rainbow. One of those moments that feels like a gift.

Canon Rebel xTi, ISO100, 35mm, f/22, 1/15 sec., polarizer, tripod

Thanks in advance for any comments or critiques. I'm not sure if the rainbow should be in the center, but I don't know where to crop. Suggestions appreciated.

It's a lovely rainbow, Kathy, complemented by some nice patches of sunshine on the cliffs and touches of blue in the sky. It would be nice not to have the bow so centered. Cropping this is a challenge because I like the nice touches of green on the far hills, bits of blue sky, and sunlight cliffs. After spending some time, I'm wondering about going square (or nearly square) by cropping about halfway to the bow from the left and the darkest section of land on the right. Did you by any chance try a vertical, maybe from further to the right?

Personally, I like the comp as posted, but that's just me.

Isn't it nice when nature gives you a surprise gift? I think you captured it very well. I especially love the GORGEOUS light on the cliffs. Nice work.

Beautiful shot of this rainbow, Kathy. I'm fine with your comp as is since there is interest on both sides of the rainbow--the sea on the left and the nicely lit cliffs and grass on the right. I'm glad you got some reward for your long drive early in the morning, even if the weather didn't cooperate. Rainbows are always such a treat to see IMO!

beautiful scene, one that does ease the pain a bit :). Cropping would be tough, but losing about 1/3 of the green hills on the left wouldn't do much harm, IMO.
