Tree Swallow

Might as well continue with the backyard swallows. This one was nice enough to perch on one of the dwarf apples (much better as bird perches than apple trees). It was an overcast morning and the light was actually behind the bird. The bg is fir trees several hundred feet behind the bird.

7D, 300mm f4 ISL + 1.4TC, hand held, f5.6, 1/500, iso 640, 1/3 stop negative compensation, aperture priority. Processed in LR5 & CS6. Taken April 3rd at 8:45 am.

Your comments and criticisms are most appreciated.

Thanks for looking,

Looks good on the techs and the detail shows well in the large version. I like the head turn giving us both eyes. The foot position fascinates me. I don't see any of the toes of the second foot on the branch, yet I would think they would show even if the breast covered the bulk of the foot. The angle of the branch looks too steep for the swallow to be in a one foot resting pose, but that seems to be the case.
