Yes, I know, this is a trophy shot, but this was my first trip here. The light wasn't all that great with some early morning clouds blocking out the rising sun. Nonetheless, there was a brief moment when the sun lit up the Window before it sank back into the clouds again. I added human figure in the scene to give a sense of scale. I'd like to know what you guys think.

Your comments and feedback are much appreciated

Sairam, there's not much I could suggest to improve this shot. I mean you're there, what are you gonna do? I like the addition of the human for scale, beautiful framing, nice light. there is one thing I think I would do and that is maybe clone the bright area in the arch above the person, so minor, but it's there.

I like the scale, here. I think it could use a bit more contrast, especially in the visible sky. The composition works well.

Thanks Gary, exactly!

Preston, thanks. Yes, I was a little scared to attempt that, but here is a repost below.

Hope this looks better. :toast:

Well sir, I believe you have hit the nail on the head with your own self-critiquing. I can only echo what you stated. The added person does add scale, and the image is about as good as it's going to get. I would only suggest darkening the sky a bit. If you happen to own Nik Viveza, this would be an ideal place to add a Control Point. You could also add some micro contrast to the sandstone. That would pull out more detail, and more contrast would certainly be welcome. Other than that, you are correct in that the lighting is very flat, and certainly less complimentary than it could be. But when you're traveling, and have limited time, you take what you can get, and do the best with it. Perhaps the sun will be more favorable for you next time.

This is a fine view through the window and the repost is noticeably improved. For me, the problem is the lack of contrast is making it hard to separate the foreground window from the mid-ground arch. Yes, it's a shame that the light didn't cooperate so you have to go back.
