RWBB

I shot this RWBB singing and displaying with several others at White Rock lake in Dallas. I like seeing both the epaulets and the open beak and the good catchlight in the eye. I couldn't avoid the few grasses and reeds in the BG and to me they are just part of the habitat anyway.

No bait, calling, set-ups, captives or cloning etc. were used in the making of this photo.

D300s with 200-400/4 and TC 14 HH
1/1000 @ f5.6 ISO 500

Thank you for looking and any comments or suggestions.

I love the bird. The detail and pose are great. The two color background is a bit distracting, but you take what is offered. Very nice shot.

Great pose. Good detail and capture of the colors. I like how both wings are shown. I might try to decrease the intensity of the blue background, but that's a small nit; this is one of the nicer RWBB shots I've seen. :toast:

Good shot of this emerging juvenile. I assume the blue is the lake. I would agree that some desaturation of the blue would be desirable.

Love the RWBB. The BG not so much. We have to take what we get. I actually don't mind the two tones as much as the really bright strand coming up from below into him. I'm not crazy about the OOF branch behind him either, but I could live with that if the other were gone. Great job on the RWBB.

The Colors! Wonderful pose and expression of the bird, and I think the background is great though I might try brightening the top half slightly. Great shot.

Great pose of the bird and good exposed on the blacks. The BG however draws too much attention because of the 'line' between the blue and brown.. Otherwise a fine shot ! Cheers, Hans

Excellent exposure to show detail in the blacks. I love the pose! The two-tone bg looks fine to me.
