Mallard Hen

The Mallard hen can't compete with the drake on color, but the subtle shades of brown, tan and grey have their own beauty. I liked the reflection of this hen, along with the feather detail. Processed using Photoshop CS3, NeatImage and LightZone. Comments and critiques welcome.

This is very appealing. Such a narrow color palette over the entire image is very cool.

Sweet. Love the color palette and the reflection. It looks almost like the duck is in camo. :toast:

Nice shot. I like the reflection and how the background compliments the duck so well. Has something of a painterly feel to it.

Jerry, the design is beautiful and the detail is there, but this one is really flat and lifeless on my monitor. I'd almost guess you left it in Adobe RGB. Any way, for me it needs a bump in brightness and contrast.

This has the potential for a really good shot of the hen. More contrast and a little warming, perhaps. also the reflection needs to be darker than the reflected, for accuracy. Worth the extra work!

What a peace and calmness in this image - and a wonderful pattern on the water as well. A winner ! Cheers, Hans
