Lone Pine (almost)

When I saw this WC, I thought I had a bunch of "lone tree" shots since several of them were published in an article about the eastern white pine tree last fall. When I looked, however, every shot included at least two trees. I typically shoot in wild forest environments, so it's sort of a "can't see the tree for the forest" situation. So if this does not meet the WC theme, just send it over to the Landscape gallery.

Beautiful shot. The middle tree is dead and the right one is more of a sappling, so they don't count.

All the colors look great and I like that you were able to still get a little light and see some green on the tree.

Beautiful comp, Wayne. I really like that little triangle of land that holds the tree(s), ( I certainly won't tell anyone). Sweet sky and just a very peaceful photo. Nice to see a post from you. :wavey:

Pretty scene Wayne, love the light and color, I'm guessing it was taken at Lake George. Well done and take care.

Lovely scenic, Wayne. The colors in the sky and the bright object higher up (must be a star, because the full moon can't be that close to the sunset) or terrific and getting some green in the tree is a fine bonus. Yes, it's hard to find a "lone tree" in the eastern forests. I've skipped this WC because my eastern trees are what I'd call "isolated", a single tree as the subject, but forest in the distance.

I guess we'll let this one slide, Wayne! Like Alan said, the "other" tree looks dead so we will just focus on "the tree".

Beautiful sunset image with a great comp of the various elements. I especially like the colors in this--the rich blue of the sky, the orange shades on the horizon, and the purple tint to the far mountains. Makes a great backdrop for this pine tree growing out on the rock bluff. Looks like such a peaceful place to observe the sunset.
