Bald Eagle and Heron

This is a photo from last spring on the Hood Canal. This particular immature eagle seemed to simply enjoy harassing the herons, he would buzz the fishing herons just to stir them up. He didn't try to come back and get this herons fish. A mature eagle will often go after an heron with a fresh caught fish and steal it away. I am eagerly looking forward to this spring on the canal with the eagles.

Canon MKIV, 600mm, 1/1600, f10, ISO 800, manual shutter speed, spot meter light reading, cropped all around 15% and straighten horizon slightly.

All your comments and suggestions are very much appreciated.

Fascinating interaction. I wonder if he was just learning the technique and hadn't overcome the wariness of that dagger of a bill on the Heron to get to the point of stealing a catch. The techs and detail look good to me. I might try to open up the underside of the eagles wings just a bit to see if any of the detail will show. I would crop the top just to remove the darker band of water up there. Good job. :toast:

Super action Ken, if you could pull a little more light out of the birds right eye and side of the face I think that would make this even more powerful. Makes me want to get back up there. :toast:

Great action, Ken. Excellent dof to get both in focus from this angle. If this were mine, I think I'd take a bit off the top. I find the strip of darker blue water at the top a bit distracting.
