Nice flight shot, Jim. I like the wing position. Any particular reason for the f11? I usually find f5.6-f8 adequate for larger birds at flight shot distances.

I love the look with the shallow DOF. But, why'd it do that at f/11? Seems like entire bird would have been more in focus? Also, 1/1000 is on the slower side, right? Looks like it froze that wing in place pretty good though.

As usual, I have no real reason for this, but my newbie brain wants to see more sky below him and less out to the right.

Otherwise, cool bird, cool shot.

It's a nice wing position. I think the shutter speed was probably too low accounting for the softness. F8 and 1/2000 would have done the job much better I imagine.

Nice flight shot with decent wing position (I wish the hawks left wing was up a little more and not so "flat"). I do agree a little more shutter speed would have helped.

Jim,
Love these birds. This is a nice wing position. You rarely see the feet down like this unless they just took off or are about to land but he appears to be doing neither. Neat. Looks very intent on something. Was he hunting? Pretty sharp, good coloration. Nice shot!! I might crop slightly off the right side. Just personal preference.
