A shoreline view of Moraine Lake in the Canadian Rockies. It was a cloudy day so the background mountains were obscured by clouds.
Canon 60D. 25mm at F/16 for 1/125 sec. ISO 400. Handheld, natural lighting.

Very pretty - I've got to get there someday! It's a very inviting scene. By way of critique, the composition feels a little cramped to me, wishing I could see more. To me, there is a little too much going on in the foreground, which I find hinders my eye from flowing through the image a bit. The saturation is pushed too far for my liking, the very green tree being a dead giveaway, but that is a matter of personal taste and artistic license! Finally, I don't know how your originals look, but both the standard and the larger view do not appear sharp. You might look at your resizing and web sharpening procedures.

The clouds flowing down the mountain give this a dramatic edge. I wonder if seeing a bit more of the trees on the right edge would give this a little more room to breathe, but this is appealing as is.

One of my favorite places when I visited the Canadian Rockies in 2009. Foreground works for me, but agree the tree on the right is a bit distracting (more may work better or none at all). Love the mood created by the clouds and reflection though.

Very beautiful scene, Carolyn. That is a long way from Buck's County. The colors look a little over the top on my monitor, but I still would like to shove off in a canoe right into the middle of this.

I like the composition, and the arrangement of all the different elements. But, to my eyes (and monitor), there is definitely something funky about the colors. Hopefully it's just a matter of being over-saturated.

Cool moody image. Love the mist. I'm wondering if I want to see more of the foreground fir or none of it at all.

Lots to see here - almost too much!
Wide-ranging colours, good perspective, and fine detail - nice work!

First glance at the thumbnail and I thought the sky had a nasty HDR look, then when I opened it I realised it was more naturally looking. I particularly like the way there are a few chevrons; two or three diagonal fallen trees and the breeze on the water. I'd prefer not to see the edge of the tree on the right though.

I think the clouds in the background work really well. I agree with others that the saturation in the foreground and water feels just a bit strong.

A great looking place and it looks like you caught some wonderful conditions to capture it in. It does look just a little over saturated on my monitor and I too would prefer either more or none of the foreground tree. Your image really makes me want to visit this place one of these days! I like Gary's idea and would love to shove off in a canoe here.

Beautiful shot. I like everything about this except the saturation. Seem to heavy imo. Especially in the foremost tree and the reds/oranges in the foreground area. The midground area not so much, but I see it there to a little bit.

Thanks so much everyone, for your helpful comments! I really like getting the feedback as to how a photo comes across to others. I realize I tend to be a bit heavy on saturation, so this is a good reminder to monitor this. Interesting to learn about the tree on the right. . .in my eye, it made a nice contrasting frame for the edge of the picture. However, it seems most found it distracting as it was. Maybe I'll revisit this image for an edit do-over at some point. . .or better yet, re-visit the actual location for a re-do someday!

Love the view from this perspective, Carolyn. The subdued light has made this place sing with contrasting colors overall. The turquoise water is a real plus to this pristine look. I like the level of saturation, but then I lean that way myself on photos. The tree is a subject for debate and would be nice to see a shot without it too, but maybe next time as you've mentioned. A gorgeous view from this POV.

Really nice scene Carolyn and I really like the clouds on the mountains. I agree about the saturation and tree but saturation is a personal choice anyways. Very nice image though.
