This smaller version of the Kudu is quite rare, and is found only in northern Africa.
I have tried over many years to get anything near a reasonable image but it has a habit of running away, and is rarely seen outside of its normal habitat of dense trees
This one was a long way off and immediately ran
Taken in Ruaha National Park, Tanzania

200-400 mm F4 with 1.4 EX at 560 mm

Ken, a neat shot of an elusive quarry. Sharpness on the Kudu is excellent and I like the comp using the narrow zone of sharpness to let is stand out in the field. The slight head toss while chomping on some morsel it found is a plus. Congrats on getting the shot. :toast:

I am looking forward to the day you show us the full capture of a lesser kudu. I KNOW you will do it! In the meantime, this proves they are out there and you are getting close.

A beauty Ken, I like how well the Kudu stands out despite being surrounded by grass, cool pose too. :toast:
