Asian River Otter

The photo was taken in Langkawi, Malaysia in February 2014.

This Sea Otter seemed to have gotten lost with the tides. Might be the female looking around for its pups. Perhaps a mate!

Photo was cropped with Adobe Photoshop. Photo taken at sunset.

John, Sea Otter or Asian River Otter? There isn't much to use for scale, but it looks like it may be the smaller Asian river Otter. Either way a great opportunity and nice capture. I'd be inclined to trim a little off the bottom and darken the one lighter root in the upper left. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you Rick. I was with a local guide searching for Kingfishers when we spotted the Otter. Given the location the Otter might not be an Asian River Otter. Not certain if the Otter is a Sea Otter either. Perhaps a Eurasian Otter if I am lucky... I have no idea.

Nice light on this otter, do wish its head was a bit more towards the camera. Does look like a river otter to me. thanks for sharing.

Neat encounter! It would be nice to have a wee bit more face. The body shape makes for good natural tension. I know there was nothing to do about the setting, but it would have been nice if the upper portion of the frame was a little less jumbled. The light is quite pleasing.
