The details and the color of that agave are stunning, Jim. Very nicely seen!

The soil color around Zion always seems to bring out the best in most images. This works fine as a centered subject too being a nice closeup take of the agave.
Overall I do not think the agave is part of the cactus family, maybe more yucca, but I could be totally wrong. Regardless, a nice capture.

Very nice agave study, Jim. I have a yucca that I was going to submit, but my wife informed me that it is succulent and not a true cactus. :frown: I say, if it's got big thorns and you don't want to touch it, it qualifies.

Great image, Jim! I really like the top-down POV and the centered comp. Wonderful variety of textures and colors plus great detail throughout the image. Other comments prompted me to do some research and while technically this is not a cactus, it is nonetheless a very well-done shot.
