Rising Tide

When I arrived at Seal Rocks before sunrise, I noticed that the tide was already coming back in and wasn't sure if i'd be able to wander around the rocks when the day dawned, or if the water and waves would be too deep and powerful. It was close, but I was able to shoot for awhile before I had to retreat to shore. While taking this image, the rushing waves were about at thigh level, and keeping myself and my tripod steady was quite a challenge.

Canon 5d Mark ii, 16-35mm lens, 2 seconds at f/11, ISO 100, Gitzo Tripod

Nicely captured, Thomas. The receding water with the slow shutter really pulls you in to the image and the comp works well :toast:

Love the water motion and lead in lines of the foreground waves Thomas. Just a minor nit I have is the cyan cast in the foreground. None-the-less, this is a wonderful image.

I see what you mean Eva, and I think I can improve on that. Thanks for the comments.

Thomas, another super image. I agree with Eva about the cyan cast in the water but an easy fix. Great work.

Gorgeous light and water motion. Can almost hear that surf roaring.

This is a beautiful scene Thomas. The lighting is beautifully soft here which accentuates the colors. Love the cyan touch to the overall scene.

A very nice result from this location. Been there once, but I just wasn't feeling it. It was very low tide though. I must go back one day and give it another try. I didn't even notice the cyan cast until it was mentioned. But now I agree that a little less would be better. I also see a clockwise tilt.

Excellent dynamic comp Thomas. Remove some of that cyan cast and straighten the horizon and you have a winner!

Beautiful scene and comp Thomas with very nice water motion. I agree with a little less cyan and the mentioned tilt. Beautiful image though that's very well done. :toast:

Beautiful colors and fine scene. I concur on the cyan and horizon suggestions.
