Blue on blue

We have had bluebirds as frequent visitors this winter, in spite of the brutual weather. Or maybe because of the brutal weather, since they seem to depend on the suet we put out for a reliable food source. I spent several hours outside, close to the suet feeder, watching their comings and goings. I captured this bird resting on a branch with the blue sky as the background.

Canon 60D. Tamron 18-270 VC lens at 270mm. F/6.3 for 1/800 sec. ISO 250. Handheld, natural lighting.

Hello Caroline

Great to have these beautiful guys visit you so early in season! Maybe a little harsh lighting but good details.

Thanks for sharing

Good image quality; nice detail. Good work with only 270mm. I don't consider this as harsh light at all - you've got good detail in the highlights and haven't blocked up the shadows.

A head turn towards the camera would help, and a less steep angle. But it is a nice image as posted.

Impressive how sharp that Tamron is at 270. Beautiful image. Love the clarity and complimentary colors.

Richard nailed it. I wouldn't complain the first time if I had snagged this. Sweet shot! :toast:

Amazing to have them in that weather, Carolyn. Beautiful light on this one and I like the head turn.

Very nice light and colors in this and congratulations on waiting so long and being rewarded with this image. I do with the angle was a bit more level, but of course we can't control where they decide to perch. Nice job!

Very nice capture. The detail shows particularly well in the larger version. Well done.
