Cottonwood Form

I noticed the interesting shape of this Cottonwood in a grove in Zion canyon, and used a long lens to isolate it against a sun-lit tangle of trees behind. It took a bit more processing than I normally do to get the tree to stand out from the chaos, but I quite like how it turned out and I'm interested if it works for others.

The cottonwood tree does have a very nice uncluttered and graceful form. I think you have succeeded in isolating the tree from the background but I like that the distant forms can still be seen. Very well done. Chet

Almost takes on a Japanese art motive. Very nice processing, and good vision in how you present it in its final form. Interesting effect you have on the background. I'm thinking, if anything, I might like the main tree with just a tad more contrast added.

Thomas, you've doing some great work lately. This isolated cottonwood is no exception. Terrific job on the processing and a great eye to conceive this composition . It really does have an oriental quality to it. :toast:

Beautiful work, Thomas! I love the fine detail in the tree and branches and the background worked great, which has an almost marbled look and feel. Very nice work!

The tree trunk reminds me of a graceful dancer. Another very elegant image Thomas.

nicely done with great graphic feel to this. the delicate, lacy lattice of fine branches adds much. nicely seen and well processed and presented.

Sure does have a fine graphic feel. Looks almost like the smaller branches could be ice covered.

Very Zen like, Thomas. I love the graceful curves of the tree here along with your processing.
