Angry Bird

by Jerry Austin

This Coot looked like he was angry at me. The amber colored water is due to a reflection from a stone retaining wall. The blue is the reflection of the sky where the Coot's wake changed the water pattern and allowed the reflection of the sky. The rings around the neck are just reflections from the water wake in front of the coot. Almost full frame. No more room on top or bottom. I know it's centered, but I think it works. Processed using Photoshop CS3, Neatimage for NR and Lightzone.

Comments and critiques welcome.

Centering works for me and the water colors complement the bird well -- I like that even though its a head on shot -- I can see both eyes

Very cool Coot, Jerry. I like the angle and the look when it's head on. Centered is probably the only choice for this kind of shot.

That is an intense look and I like the water patterns. This may work as a portrait crop also, way to go.

Nice capture of the intense stare, Jerry. I like the colors in the water. I think the centered comp works here.

I like the head on active view, full steam ahead too
Like the determined look, mostly centered works fine here Jerry :toast:

The comp works fine for me. I do wish the head reflection wasn't to the edge. Very nice exposure on a tough to expose bird. Sharon
