Megachilidae

The Megachilidae are a cosmopolitan family of solitary bees whose pollen-carrying structure is restricted to the ventral surface of the abdomen.
This is from my second year with a DSLR, when I did a lot more crawling around on all fours.
I remember how excited I was when I first pulled it up in 2005.. Things sure have changed:wink:
F/5.6, 1/800th, ISO 640, 20D, Sigma 150mm f/2.8 HH and natural light.

An oldie but a goodie, Howard. Sharp in flight capture against a nice clean bg. You certainly nailed the focus. :toast:

Spot on capture of the bee, Howard - always nice to see a head on shot, especially when the insect dominates the frame from the centre, as here.

What a great catch, Howard. The front half of that bee is tack sharp, which creates a neat 3D sense as it leaves the flower.

What a beautiful shot. The head of the insect is very sharp and the point of shooting really interesting.
