Tropical Ice

Here's another view from late December of ice on my pond with a hardy water lily as the background under the ice. The title comes because the split in the leaf (coming in from the llc) has me thinking of a palm tree leaning over a tropical beach where the bright yellow is the sun and it's radiating lots of warm colors. (Maybe that's dreaming of spring, given the recent run of cold and nasty weather.) (5D3, 100mm macro L, f/16, 0.8s, iso 200, tripod and cable release. A 5 shot stack to insure edge sharpness.)

I initially thought this was a shot into a glass containing a tropical drink. Nice, very nice.

I'm thinking your spending way to much time around a frozen pond. Maybe a trip to Cancun, where the water lilies are actually on water, would make a great picture. Seriously, Mark, your ice shots are inspiring. :toast:

Makes me want to take a bite. It does remind me of shave ice in Hawaii. Wonderful colors and textures! :toast:

Like Jim, this reminds me of a tropical drink. I think I see some mango and crushed strawberries. . .the frozen bubbles add even more to the drink appearance. Another great image from your pond! The ice texture is great but the colors are what puts this over the top.

I like the introduction of the warm colors to a typically cool colored subject, great work on the focus stack as well. I have to admit when I saw the thumbnail I said "Mark took a photo of a sno-cone!" :jump:

Great job Mark with wonderful colors and textures. You've sure made hay with that pond of yours. Really nice job on this.

Mark, think you've had too much winter and you're hallucinating about a warm vacation somewhere  . Except for your pond, these colors are pretty rare along the eastern seaboard in the winter. Can almost feel the texture of the ice; almost looks like bubble wrap, but colors are what grabbed me.
