Icy Mistbow

The (rare for this area) cold spells have created some interesting ice formations at Great Falls (as Navin's post yesterday shows). This view is from the other side of the river last Sunday morning when temps were also in single digits (Fahrenheit) with wind chills well below zero. I was looking for mistbows in the splash and caught this one before the clouds moved in. (5D3, 70-200 f2.8 + 1.4 TE @ 220mm, 1/5s, f/18, iso 100, tripod, polarizer, 4 stop ND, and cable release)

Man this looks cold Mark. Great catch on the mistbow. I also like the ice build-up at the base of the falls and contrast with dark rocks and snow. Maybe a little more room on top would help, but really nice as is.

Fantastic, almost surreal image Mark. Love the rainbow falls.

Amazing scene, here, and very nice with the rainbow. I can't imagine how you can operate a camera in this kind of cold.
Very nice!

I especially like how the mistbow has more or less the same orientation as the falls, making it look like colored water. Well seen!

Very cool catch, Mark. I like the comp very much. My only comment would be I think you could do with some more contrast in the whites to make this pop a little more.

How cool is that. I have never heard of an icy mistbow until now. Really well done, Mark.

Really like the ice formations, and especially the mistbow, which adds a nice splash of color to the scene

Crazy to see the color mixed in there mark. A tight shot of just that ice mound in the center with the color spilling in on the right would be cool too.
