Waves of Cold

This is an image I made in Canadian Rockies. I was camping at the lake for 3 days and enjoying the weather. I found these ice formations in the middle of the lake. Water that spilled through the crack in the ice froze instantly creating wave like shapes. Smooth, polished by high winds and blowing snow ice, reflects the light. I wanted this image to give the feeling of cold, just the way I experienced it that afternoon. I blended 3 images for depth of field in the foreground.

Looks great and I would say you have achieved your wish to portray a cold and frigid look.

The patterns and reflections in the ice are totally cool. Nicely composed.

Very nice (hard, cold) work. The DOF makes this work well.

Wonderful wave forms and leading line. I also like the light and color on the lake. Nice work. Chet

Very nice comp with great textures and shapes in the fore ground Artur. You captured the cold mood very well and and a finely crafted image. Great job on this.

Awesome! I've rarely seen "frozen waves" like this and the leading line and background create such a dramatic scene...

Great foreground - I really like the way that the light adds dimension to the ice waves. Nice composition as well. It looks like there are some opportunities for some nice abstracts of the ice too.

Excellent image. The figures in the ice and that leading line of the crack are terrific!

Really sweet texture, Arthur. I hope you stayed warm enough to shoot many different comps of these crazy ice waves. Very cool.

A dynamic shot. Excellent detail in the foreground ice, and sharpness on the mountains. Dramatic, too. Very well done.
