This is the Carolina Wren (looks very similar to the Bewick's Wren). Quick little suckers, they always give me fits.
F/9, 1/4000th, ISO 640, 1D M3, 300mm f/2.8 + 1.4x ext @ 11:15am, clear & sunny. High S-speed as I attempted flight shots of course.

Argh, have been chasing two of these around the yard for weeks and not a decent shot yet!
The ones here are much lighter in colour.
Great perch, pose, and BG.

nice comp and setting, Howard, and excellent techs as always. it's interesting to me seeing the color of this bird--in AZ our Bewick's Wrens are a much more drab grayish brown--at first glance I'd not have guessed this was a Bewick's.

Well done, Howard. We don't have Bewick's Wren here , but this looks like a Carolina Wren. The buffy chest and brown back definitely make it a Carolina Wren. According to http://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/carolina_wren/id Bewick's has a slate gray underbelly and a longer black and white tail. There is a side by side comparison there. :toast:

The composition is great. Like the sharpness of the bird and perch on a great background.

Yes, they are super quick, have some here at the house nesting in spring, such a joy to watch and listen to. Nice image, might want to see it in a bit softer lighting. Ron :toast:
