looking at the yucca and scrub bush each has a offshoot growing next to them from the root system. The little baby yucca is worth looking at from larger image.
The harshness of White Sands attracts me back time and time again. Plan on going there next month for overnight stays and some night shots. Third or fourth week in February if any want to join me.

This light was a little different from my previous Yucca post. :wavey:

February weather is 32 lows to 64 highs with little precipitation. :wavey:
Location is southwestern central part of New Mexico ~elevation of 4,336 feet (1,322 m)[2] on the western flank of the Sacramento Mountains and on the eastern edge of the Tularosa Basin. It is in the Rio Grande rift[22] and in the northernmost part of the Chihuahuan Desert.

I prefer this to the last: the placement of the plants is better and the sky is not so overwhelming.

Rick

This is a stronger image than the previous and the elements are evenly spaced in the fg, mid ground and bg. Fabulous image :toast:

Rick: As a general rule I do not like landscapes with the horizon at the midpoint of the frame but this works because of the placement of the plants. Love the texture of the sand and the light in the larger version especially. A really good find and a first rate capture. >=))>

PS: Do you camp when you go to White Sands and if so where? Our oldest son lives in Phoenix and I can see us detouring to White Sands on a trip his way.

For me the most interesting element is the white sand and its texture. I love the photo, simple and clean.
Take care.
