After the Storm

I took this the morning after one winter snowstorm dropped about 6 inches of snow on Zion, and as it turned out, 2 days before another dropped about a foot! When I saw that the lone white cloud was drifting towards the center of these massive cliffs I got set up, and although I shot until it was in the center, I prefer this frame where it's a bit to the left and seems to fit more naturally into the shape of the rock. Happy New Year to you all, and I can't wait to see what amazing places photography leads us to in 2014.

Neat to see Zion in different conditions. Overall I like this quite well - it's nicely composed and the clouds fill the blue sky nicely and keep my eye wandering around the frame. One minor nit - I would recommend desaturating the blues a little. Otherwise this is nicely done.

Wonderful image Thomas with nice sharpness throughout and a nice comp. Snow looks great and a quite different view than normal.
I find the blues too saturated also. Great job on this.

Thanks Bill and Brian, I see what you mean about the Blues and I'll try de-saturating, or maybe just a color balance shift.

Extra nice with the dusting of snow and the clouds. I like it.

This is neat. I like the perspective, the blue/red color contrast, and the dusting of snow.

For some reason the small version wasn't that appealing to me, but when I opened the large version, I was Rocked! The detail and rich colors are incredible. This is one of those cases of "Go Big or Go Home!" Great capture and PP. :toast:

Love the snow on the red rocks, nice handling of highlights. The larger version for sure a treat!

I think this is a very fine image. The light dusting of snow is a nice accent on the cliffs, and the color contrast is wonderful. And it's a bit different from the typical take on Zion, which is also nice. Great work!
